Macdonald's Smoked Produce The Macdonald's smokehouse is situated in a part of
the West Highlands that is steeped in the history of the Jacobite Risings in the
time of Bonnie Prince Charlie.
The smokehouse is situated in a tiny Scottish West
Highland Village called Glenuig, on the shores of the Sound of Arisaig
overlooking the romantic Isle of Skye, and the rugged outlines of Rhum, Eigg and
Muck. Each day the gulls wheel and cry as if telling of the turbulent past and
tales of daring and courage.
In 1746 the two French ships "L’Hereux" band Le
Prince de Conti" slipped past the British Navy, foiling a trap set in these very
waters to capture Prince Charles Edward Stewart, "Bonnie Prince Charlie". There
are many families directly descended from the clansmen who gave their lives
following him in to battle.
It is here that the hills bow down to the sea, the
Red Deer roam freely grazing around the scattered settlements, Otters gambol
amongst the rocks and boulders of the shoreline and Golden eagles wheel
overhead. Visitors to this area invariably leave with an indelible memory of
serenity and feeling of well-being at having witnessed nature set her own pace
